THROUGH HELL OR HIGH WATER
STORY BEHIND THE COLLECTION
In this collection you’ll find nods to a myriad of inspirations. As my Armenian culture plays the most integral part in my design process, there are A-line silhouettes which call to Armenian garb. Velvets, ancient coins of kings past, and bird motifs, taken from illuminated manuscripts, which have been spun from cashmere, silks and mohair. Wardrobe essentials are carefully rethought and made in the finest of Italian fabrics. Tailoring is explored, which harken back to my years spent living in London. Puffs bursting from suiting seams call to the internal supports of romantic-era sleeves. Leather is cut in curves and flames as they slither along the body in electric blue. All this crescendo’s to a slinky, sheer dress that is layered with torn chiffon. Each layer is hand stitched, to create a sort of body mapping. The details are what shine here, whether it be the cuts, coins or embroideries, there are little treasures hidden to discover all throughout.
