Grace
Grace Kelly and Mother Armenia collide, resulting in a most peculiar of duets. Strength and femininity, technique and romance all flirt together in this masterpiece.
Please note there is a 90-day lead time as this dress is made to measure. Color is customizable.
Story
This dress is an exercise in masterminding the silhouette of the body. I wanted to have the figured sculpted by the tiniest and most rigorous plissés. From the neck to the hem, there are hundreds of rows of individually pleated meters of silk creponne chiffon.
The strength was embodied by the Mother Armenia statue that looks over the capital of Yerevan, while the beauty and sensuality inspired by none other than Grace Kelly.
The Y-line silhouette is explored, creating an overall streamlined shape for the wearer. Extending from shoulder to shoulder, modesty was the aim in the front.
There is a sense of unabashed strictness to it; a rigidity that the plissé technique requires. This is something that was highly intended, because the moment you turn your back, you are left exposed, but in total control still.
With the detachable organza corset, you can decide how much of the back you should like to have gloriously displayed. It points back to the exposed cups of the Marilyn dress, giving that added touch of 50’s flair. The raw, gathered edges of the fabric border around you, continuing the deconstructed narrative within these small details. A tight pencil skirt brings everything to a sumptuous halt. The plissés following all the way down to the hem, to make for a very artisanal punctuation.
